Bamboo, long used in other cultures, has remained a mystery as an art material in the United States. Its repetition of nodes, hollow structure and flexibility provide an inspirational challenge. Slides, discussions and hands-on projects will introduce students to bamboo as a growing plant and an art material. Learn skills including preparation, splitting, cutting, and bending while working on individual projects. The workshop is suitable for all levels. Download Materials List.
